The Art of Oliver Weber

Google Buzz

I admire a photographer who has the courage to stand in front of a person he just met and take an amazing portrait. I admire a photographer who captures moments in the life of people without being noticed, such that no one changes his behavior for the camera.

Oliver Weber is such a photographer. His amazing works capture moments in the life of the people he photograph as if he is invisible. Behind each of his works there’s a story to find — a story carved in people’s expression, in their posture, and in the way they interact with their environment.

The Art of Kristi Bogel

Google Buzz

I love dark photography. For some reason I am drawn to the dark scenes: they make me curious; they make me think and imagine.

The selection of Kristi Bogel’s works presented here is a great example of how a simple scene can be turned into an enigma — a work you just have to keep watching until you solve.

The Art of Miss Aniela

Google Buzz

It is not too often that you come across an artist who doesn’t only create great art, but who has also managed to create a new language — a new world in which she invents the rules and then plays them so naturally.

Miss Aniela is such an artist. The surreal world she created, with herself as the main actress, is captivating. If there’s one thing I wish I could have learned from Miss Aniela’s work is how to create such a diversity that never cease to amaze and surprise the audience… and always within the boundaries of the same self-created world.

Be ready to fall in love…

The Art of Michaela Böcker

Google Buzz

One of my favorite “techniques” in photography (and art in general) is taking something ordinary — something you can walk by without stopping and giving it a second look — and turning it into something magical. This kind of unplanned, unstaged, almost random capture is like magic, especially when the result seems so accurate.

Michaela Böcker’s is nothing less than a master in making the most simple of things look as if they were created just for her to capture. Her secret ingredient is simply her point of view, and it gets you with each and every one of her works.

“I am a photo-addicted amateur with no technical knowledge at all,” she says. “I see beauty everywhere and try to capture it… beauty that is often ignored by most people.”

You can explore Michaela’s entire photostream in Flickr.

The Art of Katie Lee

Google Buzz

I am very excited to introduce Fragments, Reloaded first featured artist: Katie Lee.

I came across Katie’s work in Flickr, and immediately fell in love with it. Katie’s photos are visually captivating. But what I love most about her work is the fact that Katie is a true visual story teller. Each one of Katie’s photos creates an entire world encapsulated in a single frame — a world you cannot stay indifferent to. Each one of her photos invites you in, and you really don’t want to leave.

“It isn’t enough for me to just create pretty images - anyone can do that,” she explains. “I’m always looking to add another layer to my photography — the substance and meaning behind it. When it comes to visual art, people really just want to feel something.”

The photos below are a small selection from her wonderful project “The Artistry of Self”.
